As a psychologist who has been emphasizing self-care for well over a decade, I am pleased that it’s a mainstream idea and that everybody is doing it. Let’s not get it twisted though. True self-care is internal. It starts with internal talk about yourself, the world, and others. It’s related to core beliefs, epigenetics, automatic thoughts, and the condition of your heart.
